The US News and World Report top-five ranked UC Berkeley Department of Materials Science & Engineering trains students in materials science and engineering to develop a fundamental understanding of materials, enabling new technological breakthroughs across all engineering disciplines.
MEng in Materials Science & Engineering
The MEng program in Materials Science & Engineering focuses on Advances in Opto-Electronic Materials, Advanced Structural Materials and Materials for Advanced Energy Systems at the nano, micro and macro scales, leading to specialization in such topics as: biomaterials; chemical and electrochemical materials science and engineering; computational materials science and engineering; electronic, magnetic and optical materials; and structural materials. The MEng technical concentrations in the MSE department are:

The 2016-17 Capstone team project focused on developing nanocarriers to deliver medicine to inaccessible regions of the brain to treat neurologic and brain-related diseases.
