About Shires and Mudd Halls

Mudd Hall is a 12,176 square foot building equipped with 5 classrooms, 2 Zoom rooms, and several staff offices. Student-favorite spaces include the outdoor atrium and front lawn. Other student perks include a kitchenette, black and white printing, and after hours study space access. Students must request key card access to the space after hours. Contact your student advisor for more information.

Shires Hall (2451 Ridge Road Berkeley, CA 94709)

The Fung Institute occupies 10,501 square feet of Shires Hall. The building is equipped with 3 classrooms, 8 standard breakout rooms, 3 Zoom rooms, and several staff offices. Student-favorite spaces include the outdoor atrium and the ping-pong table in the student lounge. Other student perks include a kitchenette, black-and-white printing, and after-hours study space access. A state-of-the-art maker’s space is coming soon! Students must request key card access to the space after hours. Contact your student advisor for more information.

Space Reservations

Space reservations include room access, equipment, and custodial. They do not include security or AV support. Email fungreservations@berkeley.edu with any questions.

100 Mudd Hall: $100 + $25 cleaning fee (per hour, 0-4; $175 all day)

Transportation

Mudd and Shires Halls are roughly a 15 minute walk from the Downtown Berkeley BART Station, and it is also accessible via the 52 and 65 AC Transit bus lines.

Parking Lots

For meetings and events, please plan to arrive early, expect weekday traffic, and standard parking impacts in campus lots. Attendees may park in the Lower Hearst parking garage. This lot is closest to our event location and has two entrances, Scenic Ave. and Hearst Ave. The Lower Hearst structure has 4 levels and allows C, F, CP, and S campus parking permits. Level 2 has hourly pay parking at all times only in the Gold Zone of east side of lot. Street parking is also available, but limited.
