The MEng program has provided me with analytical skills and techniques necessary to identify new/arising technological business opportunities as well as understand the effect of disruptive technologies. More importantly, I learned the best engineering solution may not be the most business savvy or politically favorable. An electronic product can have excellent performance, but if it does not address the needs of the user, there is no value to it — no one will buy it. Also, I learned the adoption curve for a new product. All these insights, including many more not mentioned, have helped me become a more well rounded person, equipped to tackle the multi-faceted problems faced by R&D in large corporations.
