Sofia is a Filipina-American MEng student in the Mechanical Engineering department, focusing in Product Design. She studied mechanical engineering at UCLA, and graduated in June 2023. She is a Critical Skills Recruiting (CSR) Program participant with Sandia National Laboratories – a program which provides recent technical bachelor’s degree candidates the opportunity to pursue a fully funded Master’s of Science degree in a discipline that aligns with Sandia’s national security mission. She has experience interning at a biomedical device manufacturing company, an environmental engineering firm, as well as Sandia National Laboratories. At UCLA, Sofia was a Teaching Assistant for the “Finding an Industry Internship” course, and a member of the UCLA Ski and Snowboard team. At Berkeley, Sofia is a member of the Graduate Women in Engineering (GWE) club on campus, and enjoys cooking, hiking, and camping in her free time.
