Rafael Rivero

Affinity Group Lead - Robotics

Rafael Rivero headshot

Hi everyone! I am an MEng student majoring in Mechanical Engineering. I am a technology enthusiast and a lifelong learner. I enjoy working with people from various backgrounds and ethnicities. It takes more than one person to solve complex world problems of today and the future. I am excited to expand my knowledge in Micro-Electomechanical Systems (MEMS) and the Control of Robotics and Autonomous Systems.

I truly admire the continuous advancement of shrinking transistors, which allow microprocessors to perform faster and more efficient. Similarly, developing sensors and actuators in micro/nano-dimensions would reduce space, weight, power consumption, and cost, while achieving better performance.

The global chip shortage made me realized that semiconductor production capacity must be increased through better automation processes. Additionally, the fourth industrial revolution encourage industries to bridge automation with real-time data and the Internet-of-Things (IoT). Hence, I am also interested in developing smart devices and mobility robots that can assist people in their daily tasks – improving efficiency and reducing risks.

I welcome everyone to be a part of the affinity group and I hope we can all explore and learn together. Connect with me on LinkedIn and let’s have a chat about MEMS and robotics. Go Bears!
