Director, Fung Fellowship
Jennifer is the Chief Innovation and Learning Officer at the Fung Institute and leads experiential learning for our undergraduate and graduate programs. She previously served as the Director of the Fung Fellowship for Innovations and is a member of the founding team, launching the groundbreaking program in 2016. She has 15+ years of research, teaching and consulting experience in design and manufacturing with a focus on responsible innovation, design methods, and reducing environmental and human health impacts within the product life-cycle.
She is a founding partner of Matter Labs, a research firm focused on sustainability strategies for public and private companies. Prior to founding Matter Labs, she developed methods to aid Google designers in sustainable material selection and was the lead researcher in the electronics sector at The Sustainability Consortium, a global non-profit working to transform the consumer goods industry. She worked on the Global Environmental Materials team at Hewlett Packard and as a process engineer at Nissan North America. She served as the Interim Director and Senior Advisor for the Edge in Technology Initiative at UC Berkeley; committed to addressing the historically disproportionate participation of underrepresented individuals in engineering and the computer sciences.
Jennifer holds a PhD and MS in mechanical engineering from University of California, Berkeley and BS in mechanical engineering from University of Tennessee, Knoxville. To support her own health and well-being, she enjoys the outdoors, practices mindfulness, and spends time with friends and family.
