Jeffrey Tsang (they/them) earned their PhD in applied mathematics (evolutionary game theory) from the University of Guelph, Canada, in 2014. Dr. Tsang is an elected Fellow of the Royal Society for Public Health and the Institute of Mathematics & its Applications, and Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. They were invited as plenary speaker for the 2023 AAAI Symposium on Socially Responsible AI for Well-being. Professionally, Dr. Tsang has worked as a choir section lead, wilderness EMT, professor of bioinformatics, software engineer at an AI startup that sold, quantitative researcher at Jane Street, charity treasurer, and senior software engineer on Google’s AI for Gmail team. They have extensive experience in behavioral interviewing and negotiations, and have served on hiring committees. Dr. Tsang has also represented Canada in the World Junior Bridge Team Championships, holds a 3rd degree black belt in Taekwondo, and has summited Mt. Aconcagua (22,837ft) in Argentina.
