Department: Bioengineering
Concentration: Synthetic Biology
Hi, I’m Carson, an M.Eng student in the Bioengineering Department. I’m originally from the Los Angeles area, but I studied at Indiana University and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biotechnology. At IU, I worked extensively in a genome engineering research laboratory, and I also minored in Political Science, Business Management, and Mandarin Chinese. I’m passionate about the future of emerging synthetic biology capabilities, especially in the areas of bioconversion and precision medicine, but almost everything related to life science technology piques my interest. I studied abroad at National Taiwan University in 2022, and I’m hoping to continue growing my international perspective at Berkeley, knowing that biotech innovations will increasingly engage with business, policy, and ethics on a global stage. Some of my favorite activities are surfing, snow skiing, and performing improv comedy. Go Bears!
