E295 Section Options

ENGIN 295 Communications for Engineering Leaders

In order to address the diversity of disciplines, concentrations, experience, interests, and ambitions of the MEng students, ENGIN 295 has a variety of course sections with different goals and deliverables. In the fall, the objective of the course is to allow each student to hone in on their individual communication skills.

Your goal is to enroll in a section that most closely corresponds with your experience and goals, so please review the information below carefully.

The default instructional mode for Fall 2022 is in-person. Sections that meet over 15 weeks meet 1 hour per week, 7 week sections meet 2 hours per week, and 10 week sections meet 1.5 hours per week. Please pay close attention to the start and end dates of each unique section to plan your schedules accordingly.

For most ENGIN295 sections, students can enroll directly through CalCentral. The exceptions are those that require an application and this is noted in the specific section descriptions below. If the section you’re interested in is full and has a waitlist, we strongly encourage students to identify an alternative section that still has seats available.

Please note that the course will appear as Engineering 295: Communications for Engineering Leaders on the transcript regardless of your section/stream.

– Ed Oliver O’Reilly, UC Berkeley Vice Provost for Undergrads

Learning to effectively and persuasively communicate is an essential leadership skill. Together we’ll learn how to overcome common obstacles like self-doubt, lack of clarity in ideas, uncertainty in your ultimate message, and how to create an impactful storyline to reveal the power of gaining attention and support for your ideas.
