Shiyin is a first year PhD student in Mechanical Engineering, with a focus on Biomechanics. Before coming to Berkeley, she was a Research Associate at NASA Ames, where she studied mechanical unloading induced bone loss and its applications in human spaceflight. In addition to her research, Shiyin was actively involved in Engineers Without Borders, and worked extensively on a long term project in Rwanda while mentoring first and second year students. She holds a B.S. in Bioengineering from Santa Clara University.
