IE School of Science & Technology and UC Berkeley College of Engineering launch dual degree for tech leaders

This partnership provides students with the opportunity to complete studies across continents and earn degrees from both IE University and UC Berkeley.

IE University has formed a partnership between IE School of Science & Technology and the internationally-renowned UC Berkeley College of Engineering, through its Fung Institute for Engineering Leadership, expanding its global network of leading academic institutions in technology, data science, and engineering. This agreement connects IE School of Science & Technology’s Master in Business Analytics and Data Science with UC Berkeley Engineering’s Master of Engineering (MEng) program, creating a dual-degree pathway that enables students to complete their studies across continents and earn degrees from both institutions.

“This new partnership reflects our commitment to excellence in technology as well as leadership,” said Ikhlaq Sidhu, Dean and Professor at the IE School of Science & Technology. “Together with UC Berkeley Engineering, one of the world’s most respected engineering schools, we look forward to educating the next generation of engineering leaders.”

Raquel Cabero Quiles, Academic Director of the Master in Business Analytics & Data Science at IE School of Science & Technology, added: “This partnership offers our Master in Business Analytics and Data Science students a remarkable opportunity to complement their education at IE School of Science Technology with Berkeley’s Engineering and Leadership excellence, right at the heart of Silicon Valley, one of the world’s most dynamic ecosystems for technology, innovation and entrepreneurship.”

“Partnerships like this unlock pathways for globally minded technologists to lead at scale. By bridging IE’s strengths in analytics with Berkeley Engineering’s MEng, we’re creating a transatlantic pipeline for industry-embedded, human-centered innovation,” said Anthony D. Joseph, Faculty Director, Fung Institute for Engineering Leadership. “The Fung Institute is committed to building high-impact alliances that expand access, accelerate leadership readiness, and translate cutting-edge research into solutions that serve society.”

“This dual-degree pathway gives students structured advising, credit mobility, and two sequenced capstones, one at each institution, so they graduate with a cohesive portfolio and real-world impact,’ said Jennifer Mangold, PhD, Chief Innovation & Learning Officer, Fung Institute for Engineering Leadership. “Learners gain IE’s data-science rigor and Berkeley’s engineering-leadership training, plus proximity to Silicon Valley’s networks. It’s a clear, efficient route to advanced technical depth, evidence-based leadership skills, and differentiated career outcomes.”

This partnership will enable participants to benefit from tailored academic advising throughout the application process, transfer credits, complete capstone projects at both institutions, and obtain a dual degree from IE School of Science & Technology and UC Berkeley. Eligible students may also apply for scholarships and merit-based fellowships.

The agreement represents a mutual commitment to advancing global education and innovation and forms part of IE School of Science & Technology’s broader transatlantic strategy to foster collaborations with leading institutions in science, technology, and engineering.
