Julia Sizek, PhD, Research Associate at the University of Oregon’s Ecosystem Workforce Program, joined Fellows in the Conservation track to share best practices for conducting interviews. Drawing from her field experience, she emphasized neutrality by avoiding leading questions to reduce bias and allow interviewees to share their perspectives authentically. She also shared tips on reaching out beyond familiar circles, using humor, and approaching interviews with warmth and calm to build trust and gather deeper insights.
