Our 2020 Honors Team Adapt began the academic year working with the Elder Care Alliance (ECA) to design adaptive apparel for caregivers dressing older adults with mobility challenges. When the COVID-19 pandemic broke out, it was clear that the ECA caregivers safety had to be revisited. Therefore, the team quickly pivoted to design personal protective equipment (PPE), specifically non-surgical gowns, that were in most critical need. After weeks of researching and prototyping they settled on a simple gown design, recruited over 50 volunteers, and delivered over 200 gowns. Read more about their work here!
