The new website offers visitors the latest insights into science and innovation policy research
On Thursday, November 1, 2018, the Coleman Fung Institute for Engineering Leadership announced the launch of the Science and Innovation Hub website. The website serves to answer the question “How does science policy impact our society?” in this three-pronged approach:- Advance evidence-based decision making in science and innovation policy research.
- Build a community to continue studying science and innovation policy.
- Connect and leverage the experience of other countries and industries.
“Doing great science is just the first step. In order to have an impact on and improve our economy and society, the results have to get out,” said Lee Fleming, Faculty Director at the Fung Institute.“People have to hear about and understand the work and apply that new understanding when they make decisions, like what they eat or how they educate their kids or how they impact the environment. The research on this website looks at that process, with an aim to ultimately help us get our science out to the public.” The website will be updated on a regular basis with new research projects and principle investigators. As a vehicle for disseminating research, the Fung Institute invites the science and innovation policy research community to submit their work and contribute to the site: Research Submission Form| Principle Investigator Submission Form This website was developed under a project funded by NSF grant #1721279 and administered by the Fung Institute of UC Berkeley. It illustrates the impact that research like that conducted under the National Science Foundation’s Science of Science and Innovation Policy Program, can have. This website intends to enhance the diffusion of this kind of research and to bring the community together.
