Housing options for graduate students fall into three categories: University owned and operated, group housing alternatives and off-campus rental housing. Most grad students live in off-campus rental housing in Berkeley or one of the surrounding communities. The University’s Cal Rentals office can assist you with making informed choices about on and off-campus housing. These websites are a great place to start looking for on- and off- campus housing options in and around Berkeley:
- Manville Apartments
- Ida Jackson
- University Village – family housing
- New Sequoia Apartments (Affiliated Housing)
- Garden Village Apartments (Affiliated Housing)
University Housing applications are reviewed on a rolling first come, first serve basis. Make sure to apply early!
Although geared towards international students, the following website provides additional tools and advice on housing around the UC Berkeley campus. The Daily California (school newspaper) also does an issue regarding housing. Read the 2017 issue here.
