Each year, the United States spends over $2 trillion on health care. Over 75% of this money goes towards treating patients with chronic health conditions such as heart disease, cancer, and diabetes. Our team has extended the Berkeley Telemonitoring framework, a project which seeks to lower these numbers by monitoring the health of patients with chronic diseases remotely through an Android device. This would reduce hospital readmission rates and unnecessary doctor visits for these patients.
